SUMMER KICK-OFF AND BIKE RODEO TO HELP KIDS LEARN TO LIVE SMART! PLAY SMART! RIDE SMART!
Berkeley, California (Monday, May 02, 2011) - The sun is shining and it's a great time to bring the kids to the 9th Annual Summer Kick Off and Bike Rodeo at San Pablo Park!
The event promotes safe biking and walking and has fun activities, prizes and give-aways. You'll also get information the information you need to make the most of your summer: Come by to pick up information on summer camps, sports, dance, art, swimming, youth and adult classes, and Pre-K programs.
WHAT: 9th Annual Summer Kick Off and Bike Rodeo
WHEN: Saturday, May 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: San Pablo Park
2800 Park St, Berkeley, between Sacramento and San Pablo streets
The theme of the event is “Live Smart! Play Smart! Ride Smart!” Kids will be able to learn the “rules of the road” while riding an obstacle course set up in a mock city. There will be circus acts, games, prizes, food and interactive learning activities to promote healthy eating, staying tobacco free, learning bike repair, and more.
Kids who participate in a bike safety presentation will earn a free bike helmet and fitting at the event. The 9th Annual Summer Kick off and Bike Rodeo will also give away prizes that have been donated by local businesses. The more activities you do, the better your chance of winning, so come early and stay all day.
This event is hosted by the City of Berkeley Public Health Injury Prevention Program and the Parks Department Recreation Division. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
