The artwork was selected through an Open Call and a Selection Panel juried process. The Selection Panel consisted of Civic Arts Commissioners; city of Berkeley staff; the city architect; a representative from the Mayor's Office and the two Curators. Over 160 digital submissions of up to 5 images each were viewed.
The panel selected 75 artworks of artists who either live or work in Berkeley. The mediums for the artworks range from works on paper, photography, painting, mixed media, fiber art and sculpture. To support the individual artists' efforts, a cash per-diem was awarded to each selected artist.
