UPDATE - JULY 8, 2011 SHOOTING IN BERKELEY AT 62ND & KING STREETS – NO INJURED INDIVIDUALS HAVE COME FORWARD
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, July 12, 2011) - “A group of men were standing in the parking lot of Stanford Liquors in the 3400 block of King Street, Berkeley at about 2:25 p.m. on Friday July 8, 2011. They were standing near a few parked cars."
"A Black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was heading westbound on Stanford Avenue and made a northbound turn onto King Street. A member of the group in the lot described as, “a black male adult, in his 20s, long dreadlocks, wearing a black and red Cincinnati Reds base ball cap, black t-shirt and black jeans” watched as the SUV approached. He pulled out a semi automatic pistol and shot at the SUV, striking it numerous times. This suspect and two other male adults fled the scene westbound on Stanford Avenue in a newer white 4 door sedan, similar to a Hyundai Sonata. This car was followed by an associated 90s white 2 door Acura Integra.”
“Community members immediately called 911 reporting hearing gunshots in that neighborhood. More than a dozen City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the scene and the areas around it. The BPD Crime Against Persons/Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are in the process of doing follow-up investigation. As of Monday, July 11, 2011 at 3:30 p.m., no victims/injured individuals have come forward.”
