Family Fun at the Berkeley Marina
Berkeley, California (Thursday, March 01, 2012) - Join in the family fun at the Berkeley Bay Festival, a free outdoor event at the Berkeley Marina filled with entertainment, food, boating, educational activities, and information about other exciting family outings and summer programs.
The first Bay Festival was held at the Berkeley Marina in 1937, and since then has provided a wonderful opportunity for a variety of organizations to inspire enjoyment and improvement of the Bay environment.
WHO: Everyone is invited!
WHAT: Berkeley Bay Festival
WHEN: Saturday, April 14, 2012 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
WHERE: Berkeley Marina, 160 University Ave. at the western end of University Avenue
Entertainment includes Jazz Caliente with Lee Waterman, oldies rock and roll by the Backpages, Gary Lapow singing his wonderful children's songs, and the gravity-defying feats of Dana the Juggler. There will be food for sale. Throughout the afternoon, Bay Area outdoor education organizations, “green” product vendors, and other exhibitors will provide activities and information: Alameda County Mosquito Abatement, Aquatic Park Egret, Bay Nature Institute, Berkeley Partners for Parks, Dragon Boats, Cal Sailing Club, California Coastal Commission, Citizens for East Shore Parks, East Bay Regional Park District Mobile Fresh Water Fish Exhibit, as well as City of Berkeley Recreation Division, Animal Care Services, Fire Department, and Clean Storm Water Program and Energy and Sustainable Development.
At the information table, pick up an information booklet (PASSPORT TO THE BAY) with all the exhibitors listed. Get it stamped at each exhibit as you gather information or participate in an activity.
Other activities include: Free sailing from the Cal Sailing Club; paddling a Dragon Boat; touring a tide pool; stopping by the Adventure Playground to build, paint, and play.
