Traffic Enforcement Focused Enforcement Projects
The most common traffic complaints and concerns shared by community members to the City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Traffic and Parking Bureau are Pedestrian Right of Way violations, Speed violations and Stop Sign violations.
Part of any effective traffic collision reduction/traffic safety plan are the three E's - Engineering, Education and Enforcement. BPD collaborates in all three disciplines with greater focus on Education and Enforcement.
With resources available, members of the BPD Traffic Bureau rotate throughout the City of Berkeley and periodically do Focused Enforcement Projects as a team. These ordinarily are held in locations with the greatest number of collisions or have generated the most concerns.
In addition to enforcement of hazardous moving violations, community members often complain about parking and traffic around Berkeley's schools. Members of the BPD Traffic and Parking Bureau focus extra attention when resources allow to these
during the school year.
