BERKELEY ROSE GARDEN CELEBRATES 75 YEARS
All invited to join family-friendly event, celebrating this historic landmark
Berkeley, California (Tuesday, August 28, 2012) - All Berkeley residents, family, and friends are invited to the Berkeley Rose Garden 75th Anniversary event at theBerkeley Rose Garden and Codornices Park on Sunday, September 23, 2012. Help celebrate Berkeley's beautiful Rose Garden and honor the excellent work of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in building the Rose Garden 75 years ago.
This is an event for all ages! In the Rose Garden, there will be tours, music, and a fantastic garden expo for those who are interested in the history of the garden and want to learn about local community resources. Berkeley Partners for Parks (BPFP), a non-profit that supports City of Berkeley parks and open spaces, will also offer a wine garden (ages 21 and over), courtesy of Navarro Vineyards. Andronico's Market is also supporting the event. Donations will be accepted throughout the day and proceeds will go to BPFP's Rose Garden Fund and will be used to support community efforts to help future generations enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Berkeley Rose Garden.
Through the tunnel, in Codornices Park, families will enjoy live stage entertainment, including Magic Dan (the juggler), Hands On Fire Band (with James Henry), and Magician, Ryan Adler. Free shaved ice, popcorn, and cotton candy as well as carnival games, with prizes, craft activities, face-painting, and balloon animals will add to the fun of the family carnival. An inflatable obstacle course will also be on hand for kids to run off some of their weekend energy!
