Welcome to the Parks Recreation & Waterfront site at the City of Berkeley, CA.
Our goal is to provide quality parks, recreation and waterfront facilities. The department is committed to administering excellent recreation programs at our community centers, camps, marina and parks; continuing to develop new programs that fulfill the City's 2020 Vision, maintaining our trees and municipal urban forest, landscaping and infrastructure; and developing Capital Projects with community input to improve and enhance resident's park and facility experience.
Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (PRW) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) - Recurring capital funding from (Parks Tax, General Fund, Marina Funds, Camps Fund) is used to address our most critical unfunded needs and allows selected projects in our City parks to be accomplished annually. These funds along with Measure WW and other grants sources, provides funding for the restoration and improvements of parks and recreation facilities. These improvements include safety and accessibility; replacing deteriorated play equipment; repairing or replacing site furnishings; improvements to existing playing fields for increased youth sports opportunities and basic infrastructure improvements including rehabilitation of sports courts, lighting, eroding walkways and irrigation renovations.
