How do I cancel a meal?

Before 9:30am on the day you need to cancel your meal, please contact:

Meals on Wheels
(510) 981-5250

Meals can also be canceled in advance if you know your schedule.  We cannot leave a meal if you are not home, and an absence without notice causes concern.

The Meals on Wheels program is intended to offer support if you are unable to provide good nutrition for yourself.  Meals are typically delivered for short periods of time during an illness or while recuperating after a hospital stay. Occasionally our services are used for longer periods.

Periodic calls and home visits will be made to determine your continued eligibility or need.  Once you are able to get out of the house, we encourage you to participate in a meal program at one of our conveniently located senior centers.

How much should I contribute?

$4.00 per meal is the suggested contribution, based upon your monthly income, to help us cover the costs of the program.

The Meals on Wheels program relies on client contributions for 30% of our operating expenses.  At the beginning of each month you will receive a statement for the previous month's meals.  We encourage you to donate by check in a sealed envelope.

Although this program is heavily dependent on contributions, if you are unable to make a contribution, service will not be denied.

Please mail contributions to:

How can I volunteer for Meals on Wheels?

Volunteers are needed to deliver meals and to help in the kitchen to pack meals.  Deliveries are made by car, walking and cycling.  For car deliveries, a volunteer must provide their own car and a copy of a driver’s license and current auto insurance.  Background checks are conducted and paid for by Meals on Wheels.
