The City is planning to add park improvements to the NORTH side of James Kenney Park. This is in conjunction with plans already underway for improvements to the Playground and Picnic Area located SOUTH of James Kenney Recreation Center. Concept designs for the full project were presented at the meeting.
Planned renovations on the south side of the Recreation Center include improvements to the tot playground, the school-age play area, site drainage, safety, and accessibility, and a new group picnic area. The additional scope on the north side of the park will include resurfacing of the tennis and basketball courts, improvements to safety, accessibility, and lighting of the park, and enhancements to the entry area of James Kenney Recreation Center.
The City is currently inviting the public to review the concept designs and provide constructive feedback to the City during the design development of the project. Your input will help guide the City in developing, pricing, choosing, and implementing new elements at James Kenney Park. Constructive feedback includes a list of your favorite and least favorite elements presented in the concept plans, as well as any concerns you wish to share.
Please email Evelyn Chan at firstname.lastname@example.org with constructive feedback, comments and/or questions no later than 5pm on November 23rd 2016 in order to be considered during the design development phase of the project.
Favorite concepts will be developed, vetted, and priced for incorporation into the final renovation plans. All plans are subject to review and/or approval by City staff, including the Police and Fire Departments, Public Works Department, and Building and Safety in the Department of Planning and Development for conformance to current standards, accessibility and building codes.
