Camp Staff Member ($40-$60 Daily Rate)
As a Camp Staff Member you will work directly with individuals or groups of campers, serve as a role model, assist with camp administration, participate in campfire shows and special events, help prepare and serve meals and/or assist Camp Staff Leaders on hikes, group games and other outings. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.
Camp Staff Leader ($60-$90 Daily Rate)
As a Camp Staff Leader you will interact with all campers, serve as a role model for campers and staff, assist in the coordination of campfire shows and special events, help coordinate meal services, serve as a Camp Cook, and/or lead hikes and other outings. Some staff may oversee a small crew, working in an organized group. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.
Camp Staff Supervisor ($90-$130 Daily Rate)
This position supervises the daily operation of a department in one or more of the functions that are essential to the effective operation of a City Recreational Summer Camp including but not limited to; administration, maintenance, food service and recreation. This position is responsible for staff supervision and the overall management of the different camp departments. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of their department’s work and may require filling staff’s job duties as needed. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.
Provide customer service in the Camp Office, operate a cash register, balance receipts, maintain cleanliness, and may assist in the display merchandise; work closely with the Camp Manager in the oversight of the store management, including, but not limited to, inventory management and cash handling. Coordinate and supervise the camper registration and cabin allocation process. May also prepare reports, coordinate staff assignments, evaluate staff, order supplies and maintain inventory control.
Assist with food preparation and cooking, serving, dining hall set up and clean up. Assist in cleaning the kitchen, equipment and food storage facilities; maintain safety and sanitation including daily garbage disposal; may sweep and mop floors. May also prepare work schedules for kitchen and dining room staff; direct work assignments in support of food service program; make orders for food delivery and ensure dining halls are fully supplied; keep records and prepare reports; plan large-quantity wholesome, well-balanced meals; ensure proper cooking times, approve weekly menus and serve as chief cook in charge of evaluating and training kitchen and dining room staff.
Interact with and serve as a role model for campers, and participate in campfire shows and athletic events; may officiate camp special events and assist with tournaments for all ages. Assist with the development and implementation of the recreational programs, and youth-related activities; and supervise recreation activities. May also be responsible for supervising the maintenance of assigned areas, including monitoring equipment and supply levels and ordering replacement equipment and supplies; establishing and maintaining day and evening programs for campers; and supervising staff.
Certified Lifeguards ($44 Starting Rate)
The lifeguards are responsible for providing a safe and fun aquatic experience for our campers. While trained and expected to provide solid surveillance and injury prevention strategies, they are also expected to respond appropriately in emergency situations; providing standard lifeguard care until the nurse or other higher trained personnel arrive.

Examples include: babysitting jobs, youth coaching experience, leadership camps, youth mentoring programs, etc. If you have any questions about what is appropriate, feel free to contact us.
- In the “Relevant licenses, certificates, or training” portion of the City’s application you want to list all relevant certificate that applied to the job. Examples include: First Aid and CPR, Lifeguard, WSI, etc.

Candidates under serious consideration must provide proof of a recent T.B. test prior the beginning of the program or agree to get one as condition of employment. Federal law requires that prior to employment, applicants must furnish proof of identity and eligibility for employment in the United States. Proof may be furnished by various documents such as Social Security Card (original), birth certificate, driver’s license/CA I.D., passport, etc.
Fingerprinting Requirement: California state law requires that all recreation employees and volunteers having direct contact, supervisory or disciplinary authority over minors be fingerprinted as a condition of employment. Candidates under serious consideration for hire will be referred for fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon fingerprint results.
Candidates under the age of 18 will require a work permit.
