Year 2001 Annual General Adjustment

At its regular meeting on October 16, 2000, the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board adopted the Annual General Adjustment (AGA) Order for Year 2001 which allows eligible landlords to increase the 2000 permanent rent ceilings of their rental units by $10 per month, plus an additional $8.00 if the landlord pays for all gas service to the unit.  However, the 2001 AGA may not be taken on any rental units with a current tenancy which was established on or after January 1, 2000 pursuant to the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act.  The Order also sets forth the conditions for qualifying for this rent increase and the notice which must be given to tenants in order to raise the rent.
