2002 Annual General Adjustment
At its regular meeting on October 15, 2001, the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board adopted the Annual General Adjustment (AGA) Order for Year 2002 which allows eligible landlords to increase the 2001 permanent rent ceilings of their rental units by 3.5% per month or $30.00, whichever is less, plus an additional $9.00 if the landlord pays for interior space heating to the unit. However, the 2002 AGA may not be taken on any rental units with a current tenancy which was established on or after January 1, 2001 pursuant to the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act. The Order also sets forth the conditions for qualifying for this rent increase and the notice which must be given to tenants in order to raise the rent.
