Welcome to the Transportation Division at the City of Berkeley, CA. We are part of the Department of Public Works.
The Transportation Division of the Public Works Department oversees citywide transportation planning, traffic engineering, parking, bicycle and pedestrian planning, and alternative transportation programs. In partnership with neighborhood organizations, community groups, and local business associations, our office develops short and long range policy recommendations and directs program implementation to support a safe, efficient transportation environment in Berkeley.
Pedestrian Master Plan - The Final Draft of the Berkeley Pedestrian Master Plan has been completed and the City is soliciting comments on the environmental impact document prepared for the Plan as required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The City will accept comments on the CEQA Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) document until 5 p.m. on February 11, 2010. Please see below for more details. [more...]

BRT-LPA Overview - AC Transit has proposed a new transit project for the Berkeley-Oakland-San Leandro corridor: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). Changes in Parking Minimums for Citywide Pay and Display Machines - Effective June 30, 2008, Cale Park EZ Pay stations throughout the City will require a minimum parking transaction time of 12-minutes to use the machines. The hourly parking rate of $1.25 per hour will remain the same. The machines accept coins, credit and debit cards for transactions. [more...]
