Authority
Action: The
Housing Authority may take action related to any subject listed
on the Agenda.
The
Authority will consider removal and addition of items to the
Consent Calendar prior to voting on the Consent Calendar.
All items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be
approved in one motion. Items
removed from the Consent Calendar will be taken up after the
“Action Calendar” unless the Authority reorders the agenda.

Amendment
to the Administrative Plan
From: City Manager
Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution amending Resolution No. 652
(Berkeley Housing Authority Section 8 Administrative Plan)
by amending Chapter 5, Selection From the Waiting List, to
allow non- residents on the Section 8 waiting list to be
assigned a higher rank if they qualify for one or more local
preference.

Loan
from the Berkeley Redevelopment Agency
From: City Manager
Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Executive Officer
or his designee to enter into a loan agreement with the
Berkeley Redevelopment Agency to accept a loan in the amount
of $600,000 for the rehabilitation of the public housing
units.

Budget for 14 units of Rental Housing Construction Program
units and authorizing the Executive Officer to amend the

Low Rent Public Housing

Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution approving Fiscal Year 2002-2003
operating fund subsidy request for 61 units of low rent
public housing units in the amount of $134,718 and
authorizing the Executive Officer to execute a contract and
any amendments with the U.S. Department of Urban and
Development (HUD).

Annual
Plan Update: Fiscal Year 2002-2003

Recommendation: Adopt the Annual Plan update for Fiscal Year
2002-2003 and authorize the Executive Officer to submit the
Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development. (HUD).

Authority’s regulations permit an Authority Member to refer a
communication to staff for action, if appropriate.
Alternatively,
an Authority Member may
prepare a consent or action item for placement on a future
agenda which directs the Executive Officer to investigate or

a communication is referred to staff for action, if appropriate,
it is deemed noted and filed.
