The City of
Berkeley Finance Department is proposing to establish a fee
structure and fee policy, for Sidewalk Vending of Food and Food Products as follows:
Application Processing – Application for food vending
License Renewal Processing – Request for license
Food Vending License – Annual license fee
Transfer Application Processing – Request to transfer a
food vending business
Site Allocation – Use of sidewalks and
Employee Identification Card – Issued to
employees of a food vending business
Card Replacement – Replacement of an owner or employee ID card
These fees are in addition to those specified by other
Chapters of the Berkeley Municipal Code and any regulations associated
with food vending, including but not limited to Health and Safety, and
Business License requirements.
The proposed fee
structure is as follows:
Application Processing – License application.
One-time cost for processing original applications
submitted for review and consideration of eligibility and approval
for food vending licenses, based on available sites.
License Renewal Processing – Annual requests for renewal.
Annual cost for processing requests for renewals of
current food vending licenses (licenses may be renewed up to four
times, in addition to the initial licensing year).
Food Vending License – Annual license fee.
Annual cost for administration and enforcement of Chapter
9.49 of the BMC, Sidewalk Vending of Food and Food Products, and
all regulations associated with this ordinance, including
quarterly inspections, response to complaints or other conditions,
if any, and annual identification card issued to the owner of the
food vending business.
Transfer Application Processing – Request to transfer a food vending
Cost for processing an application for transfer of a food
vending business; this is separate from and in addition to
determining transferee eligibility and issuing a license or site
Site Allocation – Use of
sidewalks and public right-of-ways.
Category A sites (Bancroft @ Telegraph Avenue)
Category B sites (Bancroft @ College Avenue)
Payment for the use of sidewalks and public right-of-ways
to conduct food vending businesses; site allocation is an annual
fee billed and payable on a quarterly basis.
Employee Identification Card.
ID card is required annually for each employee of a food vending
Card Replacement. $10.00
Replacement of an already issued current owner or employee ID
