  1. Center Street Garage: Fee Structure and Policy Modification

The Office of Transportation proposes to change the fee structure and policy for the Center Street Garage to reflect the implementation of a flat-rate fee of $1.50 for two-hour parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

In order for motorists to take advantage of this flat rate fee, they will have to enter and exit the garage between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays.  If motorists stay beyond the two-hour limit, they will have to pay the regular price in affect at the time of their departure.

For further information, call Karen Moore, Parking Services Manager, Office of Transportation, (510) 981-7064.

  2. Elimination of Waiver of Building Permit Fees for Seismic Retrofitting of Certain Residential Buildings

The Planning Department is proposing an amendment to BMC Chapter 19.66 “Waiver of Seismic Retrofitting Fees,” to eliminate the waiver of building permit fees for residential structures and buildings other than certain unreinforced masonry buildings (URM) as defined in BMC Section 19.66.020B.

The data for calculating the fees is based upon the cost of providing these services, and a detailed report is available for review in the City Clerk Department, 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley.

For further information, contact Joan MacQuarrie, Staff Planner, Planning (510) 981-7441.
