Public Hearings     |     City Council Agendas & Summaries

June 14, 2005 Public Hearing:

  1. Underground Utility District (UUD) No. 48 Grizzly Peak/Summit Road

TO ALL PARCEL OWNERS IN THE ABOVE-NAMED UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT:

The Council of the City of Berkeley will hold a Public Hearing to take testimony and to hear any protests on the proposal to amend Resolution No. 56,934-N.S. to include specific dates for utility companies and parcel owners to complete their required work.  The Public Hearing will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the regularly scheduled meeting in the Council Chambers located at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, California.

The proposed specific dates for utility companies and parcel owners to complete their work are as follows:

Electrical, Telephone, Cable, Streetlight Design Start October 2006

Electrical, Telephone, Cable, Streetlight Design Completion September 2007

Substructure Construction Start October 2007

Substructure Construction Completion May 2008

Electric Construction Start June 2008

Pole Removal Completion January 2009

Parcel Owners Conversion Work Start October 2007

Parcel Owners Conversion Work Completion May 2008

In August 2007 or September 2007, Engineering staff will mail out an informational packet with requirements and specifications for the conversation work on your property.  The conversion work does not need to be done at this time and it is better if you wait for the Underground Utility District to be designed before starting any conversion work.   For those parcels that have already done their conversion work, PG&E and Engineering staff will work with those particular parcels to ensure they can be connected to the underground facility.

For further information, please contact Lorin Jensen, Supervising Civil Engineer at (510) 981-6411 (e-mail: Ljensen@ci.berkeley.ca.us) or Jeffrey Egeberg, Manager of Engineering (City Engineer) at (510) 981-6406 (e-mail: Jegeberg@ci.berkeley.ca.us).
