Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 6:30 PM

A Joint Special Meeting and Public Hearing will be held by the City Council of the City of Berkeley (the “City Council”) and the Berkeley Redevelopment Agency (the “Agency”) to consider approval and adoption of an ordinance (the “Ordinance”) to amend the Redevelopment Plan for the West Berkeley Redevelopment Project Area (the “Redevelopment Project” and the “Project Area”, respectively) to:  (i) extend by two years the effectiveness of the Redevelopment Plan, and (ii) to extend by two years the time during which the Agency may receive tax increment revenues from the Project Area, in each case pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 33333.6(e)(2)(D) regarding state-required ERAF payments made in 2004/05 and 2005/06.  The Ordinances would not change existing boundaries of the Project Area.

The City Council/ Agency will consider all evidence and testimony for and against the adoption of the Ordinance. Upon its consideration of such testimony at its meeting of June 28, 2005 or thereafter, the City Council/Agency may, at its discretion, approve and adopt the Ordinance.

For further information, please contact: Iris Starr, AICP, Redevelopment Coordinator at (510) 981-7520; email Istarr@ci.berkeley.ca.us.

Anyone wishing to speak at the public hearing may receive a speaker card from the City Clerk at the start of the Council meeting up until the closure of the public hearing. All persons objecting to the Ordinance or the regularity of proceedings may appear before the City Council/Agency and show cause why the Ordinance should not be adopted.  At any time not later than the aforesaid hour set for the hearing, any person or organization may file in writing with the City Clerk/Agency Secretary of the City of Berkeley a statement of his or her objections to the Ordinance.
