SPECIAL BERKELEY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETING
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2002
MINUTES
Roll Call: 6:00 p.m.
Present: Agency Members Armstrong, Breland, Hawley, Maio, Olds, Shirek, Spring, Worthington and Chairperson Dean.
Absent: None.
Public Comment: Merrilie Mitchell, Rhiannon, Terry Terteling
Closed Session: The Redevelopment Agency recessed to closed session to discuss each of the following matters, not necessarily in the order listed below:
CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9 (c)
Initiation of Litigation: The Redevelopment Agency will confer with its attorneys regarding the possibility of initiating eviction proceedings against Rhiannon, resident of 731 Virginia Street, and John and Sherry Thompson, residents of 1654 Fifth Street for failure to pay rent and comply with lease conditions. Both these properties are owned by the Redevelopment Agency. Report from Closed Session: The Redevelopment Agency recessed at 6:30 p.m. to the Agency Chambers for the purpose of making a report from Closed Session.
The Redevelopment Agency reconvened at 7:00 p.m. in the Agency Chambers. The Agency Clerk reported that on motion by Agency member Hawley, seconded by Agency member Armstrong and with Agency members Olds and Worthington voting no and Agency members Maio and Spring abstaining, the Redevelopment Agency adopted Resolution No. 1202 authorizing the Agency's Attorney to initiate eviction proceedings against the tenants of 731 Virginia Street and 1654 Fifth Street.
