Notice of Joint Special Meeting and Public Hearing of the Berkeley City Council and the Berkeley Redevelopment Agency on the
Proposed Ordinances To Amend Or Eliminate Certain Time Limits Contained In The Redevelopment Plan For The West Berkeley Redevelopment Project Area

A special joint public hearing will be held by the Berkeley City Council and the Berkeley Redevelopment Agency (RDA) in Council Chambers, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way Street, Berkeley, California on May 17, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. to consider approval and adoption of the proposed ordinances, which would amend the Redevelopment Plan for the West Berkeley Redevelopment Project Area to: (i) eliminate the time limit on incurring debt, (ii) extend the effectiveness of the Redevelopment Plan for one year, and (iii) extend by one year the time the RDA may receive tax increment revenues from the Project Area, pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 33333.6(e)(2)(D). The Ordinances would not change existing boundaries of the Project Area.
A report on the Ordinances will be presented at the hearing and include all documentation required by the Community Redevelopment Law. The report and Ordinances will be available for inspection in the City Clerk/RDA Secretary’s Office at 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley, California on May 12, 2005. The City Council/RDA will consider evidence and testimony regarding the Ordinances at its meeting of May 17, 2005 and, at its discretion, may adopt the Ordinances.

All persons objecting to the Ordinances or the regularity of the proceedings may appear before the Council/RDA to show cause why the Ordinance(s) should not be adopted. Anyone wishing to speak at the public hearing may receive a speaker card from the City Clerk at the start of the joint meeting up until the closure of the public hearing.
