City Recreation Activities

Hours for Recreation Division, Administration

Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recreation, Aquatics and Sports programs are offered to Berkeley youth and adults throughout the year at City of Berkeley facilities.  Activities for youth and teens include after-school and week-end programs, summer fun camps, aquatics, and youth sports. Several adult programs are also offered.

Our City-Wide Inclusion Program sponsors recreation activities for children and teens with disabilities.  All recreation centers and swim centers are wheelchair accessible.

Fees vary according to the program and are very affordable. Low income fee support is also available for some of our programs.

Recreation Centers

The City of Berkeley maintains three recreation centers and a club house located in city parks throughout the community.  These multi-purpose community centers offer facilities that can be rented and that host an array of sports activities, after-school and teen clubs, as well as, community-sponsored programs.

The Young Adult Project, located in Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Services Center,  provides  a community resource center for Berkeley youth. Located by Grove Park, the center is a community-based organization focused on reducing juvenile delinquency. The center includes a basketball court and meeting spaces that can be used by community groups and organizations. Students must be referred by either a teacher or counselor.

New Focus for After School Programs!

Each of our community centers now offers a choice of several very diverse after school programs for kids 5-12 years old.  Check out each of our Centers to get a description of programs in performing arts, earth explorers and  homework assistance.  Each of our  All programs include arts and crafts, literacy tutoring and homework assistance led by U.C. Berkeley staff.  Programs are free. Participants only need to pay $13 per week supply fee.
