All candidates running for office in November 2006 and committees supporting or opposing local candidates or measures for the November 2006 election are required to file pre-election campaign statements with the Berkeley City Clerk per the following schedule. All officeholders and other open committees not running for office and/or supporting candidates or measures in the November 2006 election are required to file semi-annual statements per the following schedule. (Government Code Sections 84200 et. al and BMC 2.12)

First Pre-Election Statement for November Election	July 1 - Sept. 30, 2006	Oct. 5, 2006		Officeholders, candidates and committees supporting or opposing candidates or measures in November election.**
Second Pre-Election Statement for November Election	Oct. 1 - Oct. 21, 2006	Oct. 26, 2006		Officeholders, candidates and committees supporting or opposing candidates or measures in November election.**
Late Contribution Reports***	24 Hours After receipt of any contribution of $1,000 or more after 10/21/06 (the closing date of the 2^nd pre-election statement); 48 HOURS AFTER receipt of any contribution of $100-$999 after 10/21/06 (the closing date of 2^nd pre-election statement).****			Officeholders, candidates or committees making or receiving a single contribution of $100 or more after 10/21/06 but before 11/07/06 (election day).
Second Semi-Annual/Post-Election Statement for November Election	Day after closing date of last statement through Dec. 31, 2006 OR, if no previous statement filed, July 1 - Dec. 31, 2006		Jan. 31, 2007	All committees, whether or not they have had any campaign activity; all officeholders and candidates who have raised or spent $250 or more for the calendar year.**

* The period covered by any statement begins on the day after the closing date of the last statement filed.
The period covered begins on Jan. 1^st if no previous statement filed.

** Candidates who have already filed a Form 470 for the first semi-annual period who do not anticipate receiving or spending more than $250 in a calendar year are not required to file another Form 470.

*** Must be delivered by facsimile, mailgram, telegram or guaranteed overnight mail through the U.S. Postal Service OR delivered in person.

**** The requirement does not exempt filers from the $250 per candidate contribution limitation.
