Welcome to the Office of Energy and Sustainable Development at the City of Berkeley, CA. We are part of the Department of Planning & Development.

The Office of Energy and Sustainable Development leads the City’s sustainability efforts through the Climate Action Plan by helping Berkeley residents, businesses, and city government create a healthy urban environment.

BESO is required prior to sale of a house or whole building under 25,000 square feet, and on a phased-in schedule for multifamily and commercial buildings. [more...]
