Berkeley,
California (Friday, December 1, 2000) – Looking for
some holiday fun? Come to Downtown Berkeley for arts, entertainment
and great food this season! Enjoy musicians and carolers strolling
throughout the Downtown as you head to dinner and a movie or to shop
in one of Downtown¹s 85 retail stores. These performances
will be held the first four Fridays in December from 5 to 7 pm.
On Friday, December 1, the Berkeley High Pep Band and the UC
Madrigals will perform a variety of festive holiday music in
Downtown Berkeley! Performances will begin at the Berkeley
BART Plaza (next to the 2150 Shattuck Ave. building). This is yet
another of the free concerts put on by the Downtown Berkeley
Association and co-sponsored by the Berkeley Daily Planet and the
City of Berkeley.

Dec. 8 - Los Cenzontles and Artemsia Brass

Other Downtown Berkeley holiday events include The Nutcracker
by the Berkeley City Ballet, Dec. 9 & 10, 2 pm, at the Berkeley
Community Theatre. Berkeley Farmers¹ Market will host its 9th
Annual Holiday Crafts Fair on Saturday, Dec. 9, 16, & 23, 10
to 4 pm, at MLK Jr. Civic Center Park. Local craftspeople will be
selling a wonderful variety of beautiful handcrafted gifts. Finally,
the Jazzschool will host Dmitri Matheny¹s A Charlie Brown
Christmas at La Note Restaurant on Thursday, Dec. 21st at 8 pm.
The Center Street Garage offers one hour free parking daily 9 to 6
pm. Parking is also available in the Kittredge Street and Addison
