Holiday Fun IN BERKELEY

Food, Music, Shopping, & Free Parking Throughout December!

Downtown BerkeleyBerkeley, California (Monday, December 3, 2001) –  Jazz bands, carolers, jugglers, talking trees, and toy soldiers are on-hand to entertain and delight visitors to Berkeley's thirteen retail districts this holiday season. Festivities are scheduled for weekends throughout December, with 2-hours of free parking on Saturdays and free parking all day on Sundays (see locations below). 

Look for "Shop Berkeley Sweepstakes" posters at participating merchants. Co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Convention & Visitors Bureau, this sweepstakes will award three cash prizes: 1st - $1,000   2nd- $500.00   3rd-$500.00.  Holiday shoppers can fill out an entry form at participating merchants until December 30th. Glittering red bows adorn parking meters with stickers indicating 2 free hours of parking in the following Berkeley retail, dining, and entertainment districts:

  • Adeline: Casual browsers and serious collectors from all over have come to treasure Berkeley's best-loved specialty shops, featuring antiques, fabric, furniture, and more. For More Information:510-845-6106 Free 2-hour meter parking: Adeline Street from Ashby Avenue to Alcatraz Avenue.

  • Domingo: Free 2-hour meter parking: Domingo Avenue from Claremont Avenue to Ashby Avenue.

  • Downtown: Seasonal events and holiday décor add sparkle to downtown's Arts District and commercial neighborhood.   • Northside: This lovely and historic tree-lined block at UC's North Gate features cozy cafes, ethnic restaurants, and shops carrying specialty items, gifts, books, and flowers.
