Berkeley,
California (Tuesday, August 23, 2005)
Berkeley Fire Department and East
Bay Regional Park District are teaming up to sponsor Hot Tips: A
Free Fire Safety Program at Tilden Nature Center’s
Environmental Education Center on Saturday, September 17, 10:00
a.m. to 1:00p.m.
This
free event features firefighters from Berkeley and the East Bay
Regional Park District demonstrating a variety of fire safety
activities. Free fire safety literature (including a copy of the
56-page “Will Your Home Survive”) will be available. The program
begins at 10:00 a.m with coffee and bagels, and includes a
presentation on the East Bay fire ecology/history; learning how to
put out a fire with a shovel and garden hose; fire extinguisher
practice; progressive hose lay practice; an Eagle helicopter
landing; and the battle of the fire engines (great for children!).
The program ends at 1:00 p.m. with ice cream.
This
event is partially funded by Berkeley’s FEMA Fire Prevention and
Safety Grant. For more information, call the Berkeley Fire
Department, 510-981-FIRE.
