Berkeley, California, (March 7, 2006)
To
commemorate National Women’s History Month, the Commission on the
Status of Women will recognize and honor the efforts of seven women
who are presently living in Berkeley, and who have done outstanding
work in the Berkeley community.
The
event will be held on March 15, 2006, at the North Berkeley Senior
Center, 1901 Hearst Street, at 7:30 pm. The reception is open to the
public and we encourage all Berkeley residents to join us in
celebration of the achievements of the awardees.
Every
year the COSOW acknowledges the accomplishments of Outstanding
Berkeley Women through a competitive nomination process and hosts a
reception for the awardees, friends and families, and the community.
This year the COSOW is honoring the following women for outstanding
contributions to our community:

Carole Kennerly – Advocate for
Women’s Health & Committed Public Servant
Louise Brown – Innovative Educator

Barbara Morita – Advocate for Teen
health & Dedicated Disaster Preparedness and Response Expert
Jan Sells – Youth mental Health
Advocate & Dedicated Mentor
Susan Muscarella – Visionary
Collaborator & Founder of the Jazz School
