Police Attempt to Identify Burglary Suspect - City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Property Crimes detectives are asking for the community’s help to identify a possible suspect who may be responsible for a series of seven residential burglaries.  Detectives believe this series began in late February and is still ongoing.   [more...]

$17,000 Reward Offered In West Berkeley Homicide - The City of Berkeley is offering a $15,000 reward, and Bay Area Crime Stoppers is offering an additional $2,000 reward, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for the death of a Richmond man in West Berkeley. Gang Member Sought In Berkeley's First Homicide of 2010 - On Thursday, February 11, 2010 at approximately 7:40 p.m., the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) responded to a stabbing which had just occurred on the 2100 block of Curtis Street.  Patrol Officers found the victim, a black male adult, in the area of Allston Way and Curtis Street with a stab wound to his chest.  The victim was rushed by the Berkeley Fire Department Paramedics to the Alameda County Hospital where he later died of his injuries. NEW Assignment List for Beat Officers - Berkeley Police Department assigns an officer to a specific beat during a 10 hour shift.  Each officer is assigned to a specific beat and is responsible for their area. They are in constant communication with other divisions in the department about crime trends and in turn work closely to reduce crime and promote community safety.  [more...]

Assault Suspect Wanted By Police - On January 12, 2010 at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) responded to a stabbing which had just occurred on the 3200 block of Idaho Street in South Berkeley.  The victim, a 20 year old Berkeley resident, reported that the father of her two-year-old daughter broke into her apartment, punched her and her daughter, and, in the ensuing struggle, cut her with a knife.     [more...]
