Crime Prevention

The Berkeley Police Department offers Crime Prevention information and presentations through its Community Services Bureau (CSB)

Burglary Alarm Information  basic information about alarm requirements and recommendations for alarm systems.

Brochures and Information  CSB offers Berkeley residents and business owners pamphlets and video tapes on many subjects including Senior Safety, Holiday Safety, Personal Security, Robbery Prevention, Domestic Violence, Stalking, Vacation Security, identity theft and much more.

Safety Presentations  -Community Services staff will also work with you to conduct presentations on personal, home or business safety and ways to deter or prevent crime in our community.

Home/Business Security Survey -The Community Services Bureau will arrange to come to your home or business and conduct a free home or business survey. We will provide recommendations on how to reduce the likelihood of becoming a burglary victim. Click here for a short security survey which you can print out and conduct on your home or business.

Vacation Watch   We provide extra surveillance of your home or business while your away on vacation or business. We will make sure the area officers are aware and keep a watchful eye your home or business while you are away. Please call us at 981-5808 to notify us when you are away. We ask that when possible you call at least five or more days in advance of your departure.

Neighborhood Watch  In addition, CSB is in charge of our Neighborhood Watch programs. Our Neighborhood Watch program is designed to help organize neighborhoods and keep them informed about current crime trends and prevention techniques.
