PRESS RELEASE ***
BERKELEY – On Saturday March 23rd at approximately
11:30p.m., Officers responded to the area of McGee and Russell Streets
for a reported physical altercation.
As they were arriving, a citizen reported that one of the
combatants had been shot.
Upon Officers arrival, they found a man who had apparently suffered a
gunshot wound to the head. The
victim was transported to Highland Hospital where he is listed in
critical condition. He has
been identified as Raymond Smith, a 25-year-old San Pablo resident.
The suspect description is an African-American male in his 20’s or 30’s,
wearing a dark colored watch cap.
