Berkeley,
CA.
– The City Of Berkeley announced a reward totaling $15,000 for
information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or
persons responsible for a murder that left a young man dead nine (9)
days ago. On
January 14, 2003 at approximately 2:58am, Berkeley Police Officers
responded to a call of gunshots in the area of Harmon and California
Streets in southwest Berkeley. Officers found Ronald Easiley (19)
shot to death near 1605 Harmon Street. According to a witness, two young
men were seen running away from the area. Berkeley Homicide detectives
are investigating this case as a murder, and have yet to establish leads
as to the motive. This crime marked the first homicide of 2003. In the
year 2002, there were a total of seven murders (7) The
Berkeley Police Department is requesting the help of the media and
community for any witnesses or information regarding this case. In a
1998 City Council Resolution, City Of Berkeley Council members voted to
authorize rewards of $15,000 in unsolved murder investigations. This
reward was approved and is a direct result of that Resolution.
