Assaulted While Jogging Berkeley,
CA. On Sunday, November 9th,
2003 at approximately 7:30am, a lone female jogger was attacked by a
male stranger on the shoreline trail along West Frontage Road north of
University Avenue in Berkeley. The
suspect attacked the victim from behind after she jogged past him on the
trail. After tackling the
victim into the bushes he attempted to restrain her by pinning her to
the ground. The victim
fought back and was able to get away from the suspect.
The suspect then fled into the bushes of a large park area.
The victim, who was not seriously injured, was able to flag down
a passing motorist who phoned 911. Police
arrived within minutes and conducted a thorough search of the area but
were unable to locate the suspect.
The
suspect is described as a White Male Adult, 30-40 years old, 510,
light brown hair, medium build, wearing a tan or gray sweatshirt with
the hood up. The suspect
was also wearing a black ski mask over his nose and lower face. BPD
Sex Crimes Detail Detective Keith DeBlasi states, This appears to be
an isolated incident. The

and bring him to justice. Anyone
with any information about this case, or a similar incident, is
