Police Discover Shooting Victim’s Body
at 1820 Alcatraz

Berkeley, California (Monday August 2, 2004) – Yesterday at approximately 8:30 in the evening the Berkeley Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots coming from the 1800 block of Alcatraz Avenue. 

Berkeley Police Officers investigated and discovered a shooting victim in a multi-unit apartment complex located at 1820 Alcatraz.  The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of the family. Members of Berkeley Police Department’s Homicide Detail are in the preliminary stages of their investigation.  Currently, there is no suspect description available, however the Berkeley Police Department will provide more information as the investigation progresses.

This marks the second homicide in Berkeley this year.  The first homicide occurred on the afternoon of July 18th in the back of 1317 Ashby Avenue when Mario Jackson was shot multiple times.  A $15,000.00 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Mario Jackson’s murder.
