Berkeley Police Department to Celebrate a Century of Dedicated Service

 

 

 


Berkeley, California (Tuesday March 29, 2005) -- On Thursday, April 7th 2005, the Berkeley Police Department will officially celebrate the 100 year Anniversary of the Department. 

 

There will be a number of events to commemorate the Centennial Celebration.  This ceremony will include presentation of the commemorative flag, Centennial Badge pinning for officers, and a presentation by former Berkeley Police Department Chief Roy Meisner and current Alameda County Sheriff Charles Plummer. 

 

The ceremony will take place at the Thrust Theater located at 2025 Addison St. and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.  In addition to the ceremony the Police Department will have a number of displays featuring items of historical interest, a place to purchase commemorative clothing, and tables featuring the services of Kid Print, Berkeley Safe Neighborhoods Committee, and the Berkeley Boosters.  Department tours will be conducted that day as well.
